Wes - A shortened variant meaning "West Meadow" in Old English
Appearance
With his tousled, windswept hair and dark looks, Wes is attractive, and he knows it. He has a roguish playfulness to his demeanour and tends to employ his disarming smiles often and with good effect. He also has a laidback charm that can quickly put others at ease. His athleticism is obvious in his square, broad shoulders and leanly muscular physique.
He tends to dress casually, usually any clean top he can find lying around to go with his jeans, but he cleans up well too, and can don formalwear as suits the occasion. Despite his lack of extravagance in his wardrobe, he wears his clothes with confidence, caring little if they're palatable to others. He typically carries or wears a pair of sunglasses with him.

Personality
Wes is incorrigibly flippant. He seems to regard every situation lightly, and often dismisses without fail, a matter of gravity with yet another of his suave, handsome laughs, or a glib offhand remark. His irreverence is sometimes grating on the nerves, to the extent where he provokes people in more ways than one because he is not one to mince his words. In particular, he does not react well to authority.
He also flirts, teases and charms, and the only thing preventing him from being blatantly labelled a Casanova is his tendency to focus on only one girl at a time. The attention span he gives to that one girl is however, notoriously short. Relationships are like joyrides to him, games of fun that he indulges in, but are rarely serious towards.
The frequent dark irony colouring his tone is little noticed, as is the fact that his slick displays of frivolity sometimes seem a tad too exaggerated, almost as if willed. Moments exist when he seems pensive and brooding, but those occur only when he’s alone or on singular, occasional instances. Often, it vanishes when he rejoins the crowds, as readily as he is falling into a practiced role.
Where morality is concerned, Wes does not have too many scruples that inhibit him. He is rare to make judgements on how others choose to lead their lives, and holds himself to similar lenient considerations with little strictures defining "right" or "wrong". He believes in personal choice, and simply in doing unto others what he would have them do unto him, and also being aware of and accepting consequences ensuing from the choices made.
Personal History
Wes was the third and youngest child born to George and Martha Covington. He was subjected to the same level of expectations and discipline that his father exacted upon his older siblings, with his academic course charted for him since he was a child. It seemed his life was planned out by his father, with no margin for error. But it seemed that no matter how hard he tried, from a young age, his older brother Nathan would be favoured over him. That favoritism fired his first stirrings of rebellion. Soon though, the resentment grew, especially when he realised he would always be the “failure” in comparison to the success stories in the household, and he was swiftly flying down the road of deliberate destruction.
He tried drugs, alcohol and got into fights -- every act of wrong he did was a key unlocking one of the many chains shackling him to his father, to his parents and to his damnable brothers whom he could never, ever match. It was a freedom that he never had, and all his parents’ efforts to restrain him failed. The last straw came when he was hauled to the police station one day after a fight -- he had severely injured one man and put him in hospital. Wes made the news. In a small town like Pleasant Port, news and gossip spread like wildfire and the family was shamed.
For serious assault, he was committed to a few years' rehabilitation in a juvenile's home under the state. His family was ashamed and pretended he never existed. After his release, he decided to carve out his existence on his terms.
It was extremely difficult at first even though he could pursue his dreams from thereon. He was left very nearly penniless, and had to room in with a buddy he had met in the juvenile home. He took on several jobs at one time, finally saving up enough for the undergraduate programme in an arts college. Continuing with his part-time jobs to finance his studies, four years later, he successfully completed the programme. That was when he started out his career as a graphic designer. But that did not suit him, and he later spent a few years backpacking around Europe and Asia, where he painted and busked as he saw the sights. Without a decent job, and when his savings ran dry, on a few occasions, he succumbed to prostituting himself for money, sleeping with wealthy women who could afford to pay him.
Tired temporarily of traveling around and living from a backpack, he has returned to Pleasant Port since Sep 2007.

Friends
- Sally Brown: They met at Atlantis Nightclub and he kept her company while she was waiting for a friend. Needless to say, they flirted ceaselessly, and there were certainly sparks going on.
- Amy Salinger: Wes met Amy at the Fun Bar one night, and had been attracted to her ever since. The few dates they have been on went well, and he is frankly intrigued by her, someone he feels has both brains and beauty, coupled with a steadfast idealism and sweetness at her core. As much as he is working towards getting her in bed with him, he can't deny he enjoys discovering the person that she is and the conversations they've shared.
