Appearance
Ren is 5'11" tall. He's got some meat on him, but overall he's in pretty good shape. He has blond hair that he never lets get too long (he doesn't want to look like a weirdo hippy). His clothing style is relaxed to fit his California spirit. Enjoys wearing shorts even when it's cold, shirts over shirts, and pretty much whatever he wants to wear. He's gotten henna tattoos but has never found anything that he wanted to get a permanent tattoo of. He has minor scars, but none of great significance.

Personality
He's a sweet guy with a sarcastic sense of humor. Sometimes he uses that humor to knock down people who he feels needs it (in particular Fletcher). For him, life is all about enjoying himself and having fun with those around him. He doesn't believe in taking life seriously and doesn't understand those who do.
He loves parties, whether he's the one hosting it or is just a guest. He always enjoys karaoke and has a karaoke machine that he brings with him to parties he attends. And if you're coming to his place, you'd better be ready to sing - drunk or not. Even if you're a wallflower, because Ren doesn't like seeing people not enjoying themselves.
It's also hard to get Ren pissed off at you. If you're miserable, he will usually just turn it into a joke and if you try to curse him out, he'll just make it out like you're best buds. But if you don't go along with it and keep being a sourpuss, he can get snippy and walk off, leaving you wondering if he's really pissed or just joking around.
Ren was born and raised in Huntington Beach, California. His family was the type that was poor when it came to money , but they were rich in many other things. Even though the Aldens love their two daughters, they were thrilled (especially Richard) when a son was finally born. While his mom treated him as the baby of the family, his father treated him as though he was the man of the house in training.
That training came into play when around a year of arguments ended up in a divorce. Not yet a teenager, Ren became man of the house. He took the title very seriously, even if he was younger than the three women he was living with. The ties are so strong, that it was tough for him to make the decision to travel far away to go to college. However, Ren missed his grandmother (who was living in a town in Connecticut) so much that he decided to go to college by her house. While he was already rebellious throughout school, he broke out even more in college, deciding to live life to the fullest.

At that point, he felt like he was the man of the house. After graduating from college, he moved in with his then-girlfriend (and now fiancee) Cindy Peterson.

Relationships with other Characters
Madeline Baker - Knows her from when she came to college parties at the frat house he was in. He and the other frat brothers referred to her as CG (Crazy Girl) - and sometimes still do. Got to know her better when Fletcher started dating her and got her pregnant. While he loves them both dearly, he doesn't think either of them is ready for parenthood and prays to Buddha that Tabitha will be okay despite her parents.
Riley Collins - Knows her from college parties at the frat house and because she's Travis's sister. He appreciates her sense of humor and her sassiness. They've ended a few college parties together in Ren's bed.
Travis Collins - Met Travis when Fletcher made the younger guy join their fraternity. He likes Travis and likes to help him to feel more comfortable and break loose. However, since Ren was smart and did well in college, he understood that Travis wanted to do well and would tutor him sometimes. Also, has always found it fascinating that Travis is colorblind and therefore sometimes asks obnoxious questions to learn more about the 'disability'.
Linda Davis - Met her when he and Fletcher were watching Willie Nelson at the Pleasant Port Music Festival. He thinks she's very cool and wouldn't mind hanging out with her sometime if their paths crossed again.
Fletcher Montgomery - His buddy since they started college and were both liberal arts majors. He thought that Fletcher's 'hick' accent was awesome and was bummed that it went away. When he's feeling especially playful/mean, he'll attempt the accent to get Fletcher to slip back into it. He joined the frat when Fletcher decided to. He remains Ren's best friend.
Aleksei Podolsky - Ren met him when his jeep broke down on the way home from the beach. Luckily the guy offered him a ride home and also gave him a great conversation on the way.
Rylee Romsland - Met her when he and Travis were meeting Fletcher at the beach and Fletcher was hanging with Rylee. He hasn't gotten to know her too well yet.
Max Perry - His second-to-best friend from the frat, second only to Fletcher. However, he does think that Max has the cooler accent. They play in Calicajun together and have probably become closer in the process.
Cindy Peterson - His fiancee and the love of his life. He met her while they were in college and she attended parties at the frat house.
Jacqueline Sanders - Knows her as Fletcher's friend and boss at Ocean View. He thinks she's very sweet and has helped to mature Fletcher somewhat. Thinks that Fletcher should end up with Jackie or a girl like her.
