Services

Pleasant Port's branch of the American Red Cross stands ready to carry out any of it's foundations services locally. These include: disaster relief, food and comfort for the needy, assisting and keeping connected military personnel and their families, safety and health-related educational programs, collecting and providing blood and blood products, and gathering food and materials for international relief efforts. Staffed almost solely by volunteers, the office is open six days a week.

The complex encompasses admin offices, a fully-functional blood lab, a Situation Room to coordinate disaster relief, counseling offices, a large donated-goods holding/sorting area, a communications room with phones and computers, classrooms, and a large conference room.

There are also two large box trucks for moving goods to needy places.

Brief History

The Red Cross has maintained a branch in Pleasant Port since 1915.  The current building was erected in 2004.  They have been instrumental in helping local families in need during numerous blizzards and floods---the most recent of which was Feb. 2007.
