Synopsis: Reasons to be pretty is a play by Neil Labute that centers on four young working class friends and lovers who become increasingly dissatisfied with their dead-end lives and each other.

 

Friends of the Theatre

 

The Friends of the Theatre is a non-profit, community based organization dedicated to providing material and volunteer support to the Pleasant Port Theatre. Membership is open to all.

 

The Friends' organization contributes financial and physical support for the production of Theatre programs and funds items not covered in the Theatre's budget, such as office machines, art objects, t-shirts for community theatre casts and crews, gallery opening receptions, unexpected major repairs, art show prize monies, and many others. It works to promote Arts Center programs and to extend arts awareness and appreciation throughout the community.

Summer Workshops

 

Young Actor's Theatre

June 11 - June 29; Performs June 29 & June 30 {12:30 pm to 5:30 pm}

YAT is a three week program designed for young people between the ages of 13 and 18 who are interested in exploring the creation of a theatrical production. Emphasis is placed on acting technique and production style, including exploration of the choices that define the production.

 

PlayShop

July 9 - July 27; performs July 27 & July 28 {12:30 pm to 5:30 pm}

Playshop teaches young people ages 8 - 12 aspects of theatre through a series of workshops while mounting a full-length production.

 

Fairy Tale Theatre

August 6 - August 10 {10 am to 12 pm}

This week long program allows participants ages 5-7 the opportunity to express their creativity through popular fairy tales.
