At 5’6 Nat is lean and graceful, long limbed, without an ounce of fat on her frame. She has a dancer’s figure, something she strives very hard to maintain. Her brilliant auburn hair, long and slightly wavy, usually worn down, is her most striking feature. Her eyes on the other hand are a nondescript colour, blue, green, shifting between the two shades depending on the lighting; she’s always thought them rather dull.

Personality
Nat has always been dedicated and driven to succeed. Subsequently she doesn’t take failure well and can be quite ruthless in her attempts to avoid it. This fear of failure has also led her to make choices she regrets including an abusive relationship with one of her teachers, something which stripped her of any naivety she may have had.
Despite her faults she’s a loving loyal friend, putting the same energy into dedication into her relationships as she does her main goals. She tends to be protective of those she cares about, outgoing and fun in social situations and a little fiery. Usually her temper isn’t a problem as it cools as quickly as it rises and she’s learnt to smooth things over, however once someone is really on her bad side she rarely forgives.
Personal History
As far back as Nat can remember she wanted to be a ballerina, her mother was supportive and so it sometimes seemed that the Simons’ life revolved around the many classes, recitals and dance camps. Nat was quiet when she was younger, had a few close friends at school but her intense interest in dance left her too busy to play the popularity game and her lanky figure, freckles and red hair saw her teased by some of the more popular girls.
When she turned 16 she was offered a place at the American School of Ballet and relocated to New York, only coming home on the holidays. At 18 she was offered a place in the New York City Ballet company and with touring her visits home became even less frequent. So it was that Nat wasn’t home when her father left four years ago, and didn’t see how badly the desertion tore her mother apart. David, her younger brother did though. Nor was she there two years ago when her mother was diagnosed with Huntington’s disease; it was David who took care of their ailing mother. In fairness, Nat couldn’t have known, Janet not wanting to ruin Nat’s dream hid the worst of her emotional pain over her divorce from her daughter, and asked David not to mention anything to Nat about her illness.
Nine months ago Nat came home for a short visit and found she couldn’t leave, not with Janet needing fulltime care and David going off the rails. So she gave her notice, moved back home and went looking for a job to support her mother and her brother. One month ago, realizing she could not provide her mother with the care she needed Janet was moved into a home. David wanted to leave school to care for her but Nat wouldn’t let him sacrifice his education, something which has furthered the boiling resentment David feels for his sister. Now the medical bills are piling in and Nat wonders how she’ll cope.

You Can Find Her
Family
David Simons (Age 17) – was, like his sister, adopted soon after his birth. He’s still at school and resents his sister for sweeping into his life and trying to save the day. Lives with his sister.
Janet Simons (Age 47) – adopted children rather than risk passing on the Huntington's gene to them and was a happy, bubbly sort of woman who worked as a secretary in town two days a week, just to keep her hand in, but was predominantly a housewife. So proud of her daughter that she occasionally neglected the other aspects of her life. After her husband left she lost much of her vitality and relied too much on David to see his pain. She degenerated quickly after being diagnosed with Huntington’s and now resides in a home.
Eugene Simons (Age 50) – a retired lawyer Eugene left Pleasant Port when he left his wife. He’s now settled with a woman half his age. Despite his belated efforts to get in contact with David and Nat, neither are speaking to him, although his offers to help with the bills are starting to sound tempting.
Friends
| Character |
Why they know each other? |
| Saleisha Factor |
The two met at the community centre and hit it off fairly quickly, having a number of things in common including terminally ill mothers. Nat envies her the close relationship she has with her siblings. |
| Lauren Jacobsen |
Met when Nat was working at Ocean View and became friends in some part because the two enjoy going to most of the same clubs and bars. |
| Jacqueline Sanders |
Nat met Jackie when she started working at Ocean View in March 2007. They hit it off almost immediately, with Jackie being almost impossible not to like and Nat being so outgoing. In Jackie Nat’s found a friend who shares her love of old movies, but she sometimes wonders if Jackie’s a little too nice for her own good and finds it hard to think of the naïve Jackie as being five years older than she is. When Jackie left for California Ocean View just didn't seem the same and Pleasant Port was a lonlier place for it. Nat's glad to have her friend back. |
| Alexander Stone |
Nat met him first at Ocean View but soon after found out he was her brothers history teacher. At first she was embarrassed around him given he knew something about the poor relationship between her and David, but Alex was understanding enough that she’s occasionally asked his advice about how to cope being guardian to her younger brother. She worries that she’s taken advantage of Alex’s understanding. |
| Brendan Wright |
Nat was introduced to Bren by a fellow NY Ballet dancer Sophia Clark. She only knew him in passing until she returned to PleasantPort and at Sophia’s advice looked him up. In Bren Nat has a connection to dancing she hadn’t thought she’d find in PleasantPort, a good friend and someone she can flirt outrageously with. Having seen the difference in Bren from before the attack to after makes her feel rather protective towards her friend, she’s also been very happy to have him helping her out with dance classes – something she thinks is probably good for him

|
| Scott Archer |
they were in the same year in High School but moved in such different circles that she didn't want to bring up the connection when they met at a Christmas party in 2007. Regardless of what she may have thought of him back then, she likes him now. He's a lot of fun and someoen she'd like to get to know better. |
|
| Andrew Baker |
met about six months ago when Nat's Mum decided she wanted to arrange her funeral before the fact. Nat thought he was nice, making what was a rather depressing day less morbid. |
|
| Travis Collins |
Knows him as Fletchers friend and has seen him mostly at Oceanview and Fun Bar. He seems nice and a few times when Fletcher’s been teasing him she’s stepped in and turned things around to give Fletcher a little of his own back. He’s someone she’d like to get to know better and would enjoy seeing come out of his shell but she’s always hesitant about assuming that just because someone’s quiet means they’re nice.

| Grace Gibson |
While Nat’s seen Grace around quite often, tapping on her laptop at the Pancake House, they’ve only spoken a couple of times. She seems nice enough but a little too withdrawn to make easy conversation with. Nat figures she’s a writer and has in fact read some of her work – not that she’s connected the published author with the quiet writer from the Pancake House.
|
|
| Ethan Hauer |
Someone she's seen around a lot, when she's been jogging at the beach and out clubbing. |
|
| Colin Lowen |
She’s heard a few things about Colin, none of it pleasant from Fletcher. What she doesn’t realise is that the “Psycho” Fletcher’s complained about is the nice guy she’s chatted to at the library a few times.
|
|
| Fletcher Montgomery |
She’s worked with him at Oceanview since March 2007, he also lives just a couple of houses down. While undoubtedly aware that he’s hot, something that's difficult not to notice when they go to the same gym, he is also exactly the kind of guy she’d stay away from even if she was looking. But she enjoys his company, has fun teasing him and doesn’t let his slutty ways bother her because at least he’s honest about them.

|
| Justin Parker |
While she hasn't met him yet she's heard a few things about him from Saleisha. |
|
| Miko Ronin |
Nat's oldest student so far, Nat's enjoyed both her company and energy and enthusiasm. |

| John Zimmerman |
A customer from Ocean View, flirty and fun which she enjoys since there doesn't seem to be any harm in it. |
