No one believes that she's 29, she appears to be a lot younger than that. Whether that's due to her five foot stature, her ageless round pixie-like face with twinkling black eyes when she's smiling which is often. In fact, she's seemingly always happy in a way that is very out of place most everywhere except in her head. There's little denying that she's a woman though with noticable curves, especially since she chooses to wear clothing that highlights her appearance. There's no question that she's in shape but she's stronger than she appears. That can be most anything really - skirts, dresses, pants, shorts, anything, she doesn't have a particular preference except that it makes her look attractive to others. That, more than anything else, is what is important to her in terms of clothes. The only marks on her body anymore are four tiny black circles, two on the bottom of each foot. The only thing that she's consistently wearing is tall shoes, whether they're elevated sandals, high heels, boots, it doesn't matter as long as they make her taller.

Personality

On the surface, it's hard to find anyone whom is more happy with life than Miko. Always smiling, always seeing the good in life with almost child-like wonder that some might wonder if she's not quite well. It makes it very easy to underestimate her and that is fine with her, she's used to it. It's just like how she knows that she's wearing clothes that are more prone to cause an erotic reaction from others, it doesn't bother her that people see her sexually, she doesn't have the normal shame response to it. In fact, she likes it when people say that she's pretty, it almost always causes her to blush. She's very physically affectionate (hugs and kisses) which is why some might call her a slut but she would disagree if they ever asked. She sees nothing wrong with such affection After all, why would someone not want to be happy?

Beyond the surface, she's very observant of people and how they act. It takes very little for her to not like someone or something but is far too polite to say anything. It takes a lot for her to get angry however and you don't want to make her angry because she will sate that anger by either beating you up or hurting you in some other fashion. She does not forgive. To her, everything is very white or black with little grey of any kind. Yet what she's really looking for in her life is a sense of purpose, something that she hasn't been able to decide for herself since she moved to the US permanently. It was why she changed her last name to a masterless samurai, someone with great honor but no purpose by which to stand behind.

Personal History

Miko Tanaka was born into a family that wasn't supposed to have women. Her mother was supposed to have only boys and was only there for the purpose of being a wife. Her father had no desire to have a girl and, if he could have done away with her without losing face, he would have. Instead, he just made both her and her mother's lives hell instead. Throughout it all, Miko nor her mother informed anyone about what had happened to either of them. To the rest of the world, they were perfectly normal. Miko was an excellent student, prolific in her studies despite her life away from the public eye. It wasn't until she was 12 that the sexual abuse and the rest of it started to happen to her. She was being remade into something else...

When she won a scholarship to study at an American high school as an exchange student, she came to the US into a life without being yelled at, beaten, abused for the first time that she could recall that it was difficult to understand that it wasn't what was supposed to be. Through friends, she discovered the full extent of what he had been doing to her and her mother. Unfortunately, it was too late for her mother whom had lapsed into a coma while she was stateside, circumstances of which remain 'open' officially. Unofficially, it is clear that her father will never go beyond his station ever again. That and she decided that she would never return to Japan ever again.

Withdrawing all of the money from her bank account along with assistance from her friends in the US, she changed her last name and started wandering across the US, exploring the new country that would become her home. She went to school, eventually getting a massage therapist certificate and interned with a number of different acupuncturists in order to get licenced. However, she never stayed in a place for very long, in part because she wanted to travel and in part because she was worried that her father might take her back.

Eventually, she decided to settle down in Pleasant Port, thinking that she was done traveling. She spent the past year taking business classes at the community college so that she could get approval for her business plan to get into business for herself. It took nine months but she got the approval and, in late December, Miko's Place opened its doors for business.
