Personality

Marty is by all accounts carefree, fun loving and is generally liked by everyone. All throughout high school he was known as a star athlete, well liked and popular with the girls. Despite his popularity, in elementary school, high school, and college, he was never mean to anyone; instead he'd take the time to get to know people from all walks of life. In return for his hard work he managed to not make enemies.

He's always been stereotype of a dumb jock, something which has bothered him. Sure, he's not a Rhode scholar, but he also doesn't have saw dust for brains. He is very sports oriented and can be somewhat of a walking sports trivia book. He's always been a charmer and has done well in life and gotten ahead due to his looks, infectious personality, and his physical abilities.

Marty tends not to take things too seriously and is always looking at the lighter side of life. He has no desire to let the little things bother him. He knows this can drive his wife insane, but he has no plans on changing how or who he is. The things in life that make Marty laugh the most often offend and horrify people. Luckily he has Ryan who shared his warped sense of humour and the two of them can spend hours bantering back and forth.

Personal History

Marty was born and raised in Pleasant Port to Bernard and Judy Law. As the younger of two children, he suffered from the typical youngest child syndrome. He was loud, hyper and always up to trouble. His parents had another child to run after, thus leaving Marty to get away with a lot. Since he was a young child, it was evident he was athletically gifted rather than in the class room. His parents encouraged him in sports, not only because he was good, but also it was an outlet to channel a lot of his pent up energy.

When he entered high school he developed a real love of music on top of his passion for sports. When he was 16 he got a job at the radio station doing office work. Around the same time he first laid eyes on his future wife, though he never gave her the time of day and vice versa. He went through a string of girls throughout high school, mostly because he was a star on the football team and also because of his good looks, behaviour which carried into his college life.

When Marty started college, in on a football scholarship, he continued to work at the radio station, even getting a four hour show every Saturday and Sunday from 6 pm to 10 pm. While he was not a straight A student, he kept his grades good enough to stay in school on the scholarship. At this time he noticed Patricia, but this time thought a lot of her. He wanted her and bad, but things never seemed to line up just right. They were either dating other people or something else would come between them.

During his second year of college he suffered from a knee injury. At first it was expected that he would be fine and would recover in time to play during third year. It turned out things were a lot worse than they thought and he wasn't able to go back to competitive sports. He dropped out of school and worked at the radio station full time, getting more air time. This crushed him and on top of that Patricia decided he was not good enough for him. This stung even more because when he was in college and playing he was good enough them. Despite this set back, he was more determined to win her. He set aside his promiscuous ways and the two finally got together.

Marty and Patricia's relationship had always been heated and volatile. The two broke up and got back numerous times, but their relationship was finally cemented when Patricia discovered she was pregnant. Though neither Marty nor Patricia was ready for marriage, but both of their families all but insisted on it. They got married and five months later their son Rodney was born. Though he and Patricia care for each other, they are only still married for the sake of their son. They live like roommates who still happen to share a bed and have sex on occasion. While Marty has come close to cheating on Patricia several times he has kept himself faithful, not ready to face the consequences or fall out due to his careless behaviour.
