History
Maggie was born in Pleasant Port to Lawrence and Lucinda Felix who own Sugar Mountain, the local candy store. She attended Pleasant Port School and graduated with a respectable 85 average. The one class she did exceptional in was English. She was an A student in every English class she took. She competed in short story and oratory competitions and always placed well. She also did well in History and alright in most Science classes. Maggie was as bad at math as she was great at English. She often had to take a math class several times and her difficulties in the subject led her to graduate with only a standard Diploma instead of an advanced one.
During her teenage and young adult years Maggie was promiscuous and at fifteen, had a pregnancy terminated. She does not regret one bit her decision.
Maggie attended a small liberal arts college and earned a degree in Literature with a focus on writers of the 1800s and turn of the century literature along with a minor in Art History. In college Maggie still struggled in math and in the end, had a friend take the math courses online for her while she took his English classes online.
The real world hit Maggie pretty hard. She moved to Oregon to write but never made much of it. She did not realize that she was a big fish in a small pond and was one of many many talented women in the world. When she was twenty four she moved back to Pleasant Port to be near her family. She worked at School Kids music store for a while and still helps her family with her brother Clive, who is mentally handicapped.
Maggie is luckily not in dept as her family won a major Settlement against the hospital where Clive was born (not Pleasant Port). This money provided for Clive’s future and Maggie’s education. She had the option of moving in with her parents again when she came home but still liked being on her own in many ways. She lives in a small apartment and takes Clive two days a week overnight.
Recently Maggie took a job as a Cub Reporter for the local paper and now could not be happier.
Personality
Maggie can best be described as reasonably friendly, very intelligent, and a little bit moody. She’s a writer, so these personality traits fit the package. Maggie has a good nature to her that is sometimes hidden by her moodiness though she would never allow a foul mood to make her be cruel or malicious.
Growing up in Pleasant Port Maggie was a “Big Fish in a Small Pond” and when she went out into the real world she got knocked down a peg or two. When this happened Maggie was a little bit humbled and a little bit jaded.
Maggie has a slightly impatient streak with people. She does not like it when people act immature or like children. One of her major pet peeves is when people are adults and still call their parents “mommy” and “daddy.” Clive, of course, is an exception.
Because Maggie was promiscuous as a teen and younger adult, she has some relationship and trust issues. Deep down she still thinks all men want is sex and she will be left alone.
Her one most dominant personality trait is her loyalty to her family and close friends. She is devoted her to younger brother Clive and to her best friend Ben. She is also very loyal to her other friends the Sullivan’s, the Brinkeroff’s, and a few others.
Recently Maggie’s spirits have been lifted as she now has a job doing what she loves – writing. Although she is still only a Cub Reporter her personality is slightly but noticeably more sunny.
