Personality
Wild and insane are two words to describe Maddy. She's loud and outspoken, and doesn't really care what anyone thinks about her. She doesn't care for rules or regulations, and has been in trouble with the law more times than she can count. She and her sister have always been problem children, but Maddy is really the bigger of the two. When Maddy was young, she was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Maddy has a hard time remembering things, but usually tries to play it off. She also has difficulty concentrating and focusing on projects, along with a short attention span. She is very impulsive, and is always trying the next big thing. She does take a per scription medicine for it, Celexia, which is an antidepressant. Most of the time, she doesn't like to take it, because it makes her feel blurry around the edges. When she was younger, her parents fought a lot, and she thinks that is why she's so messed up in the head. Other than those bad things, she can be awfully nice when she wants to be, but if she's crossed by a person, she will never forget it, and often hold a grudge against that person. She doesn't believe in love due to her family. She's seen her family ripped apart from the inside, and she thinks if that's what love is, then she'd rather not have anything to do with it. She's very self centered in the fact that she wants everyone to like her, and she wants everyone's attention on her at all times, especially when she was younger. Since she's gotten older, she's let up on that a little. Since Maddy gave birth to her daughter, the entire need to be the center of attention has shifted from herself to Tabitha.
When she had decided to move to California, she had done a lot of growing up. A lot of things could happen in four months, and they did. Maddy realized how selfish and inconsiderate she had been, and felt terrible for what she had done to Fletcher, taking their child across the country. After talking it out with him, she decided that it would be okay to trade off every month with Fletcher. After the third month, things were beginning to become hectic, and Maddy wanted to move back home.

Personal History
Maddy was a problem child from the time she was born. She was a premature baby, colic-y, and always had some sort of health problem going on. As she grew up, she grew into the terror that she is now. That is her story. When she was very young, Maddy's parents fought a lot, which caused the children stress. She was diagnosed with ADHD during this time. As the years progressed, her parents fought more and more, and eventually her mother started beating Maddy and her sister. The only way to retaliate was for Maddy to be even worse, and she has only on one occasion hit her mother back. She was thrown into a dresser for that, and her life was threatened. Her father saw what was going on, and turned a blind eye to the situation, which made Maddy and her sister hate their parents even more. She began to cut her wrists as her way of release. During this time, she lost her virginity to Micah Lewis at a party, where there was a lot of drugs and alcohol being distributed. She was fourteen.
Maddy has never been classified as intelligent or smart at all. In school, her grades were average, at best. She didn't like to turn in her homework, she didn't like reading, and she hated math. She didn't fit in with the Pleasant Port Elite, as she called them: Alanna, Ashley, Dana, Norah, Melanie, Carly, and Jessy, which was fine by her. During this time, Maddy actually came to the realization that she didn't believe in love, especially with what was going on in her family. That was when she 'stole' Jessy's boyfriend, Colin Lowen.
Maddy has slept around with many people, and Colin knows about it. For reasons beyond her, Colin is still with her, and Maddy is deathly afraid he's in love with her. Love, in any form other than friendship, scares the living daylights out of her. She's seen what 'love' can do, when her parents beat each other and often the cops were called.
Maddy didn't mind hanging out with her sister. When Ashley began to notice and befriend her, Alanna got really jealous. Alanna hated Maddy because she was so different. Ashley began to hang out with Maddy the most, and they were soon inseparable. Alanna began to spread rumours about Maddy, some of them were true, some of them weren't. It was a tough time for her, because Ashley dropped out of school, her parents were going through a messy divorce, and her sister moved to California.
Once Maddy turned 17, she moved out of her father's house, and into an apartment with Ashley. Continuing to cut, she began to become wilder. She graduated from high school, and enrolled in hair and makeup school on a government grant. When Ashley began as an apprentice at the tattoo shop, things were really beginning to look up for both of them. Maddy requested that Ashley tattooed her skin, and she was tattooed over the scars on one of her arms. She hasn't cut herself since. She had a job, an apartment, her best friend, and school to look forward to. Doing hair and makeup was the best way that Maddy knew how to express herself, and she will be graduating in April. She wants to open her own shop, but will settle working in a shop in Pleasant Port until she can achieve her dream. She has always loved doing makeup and hair, and she's really hoping that thiss will pan out for her.
Maddy feels like she's been spinning out of control. She wants to be with Fletcher, but somehow began dating Scott, and had yet to break up with Colin. She feels like she and her best friend have been growing apart. Emily left without saying goodbye, Jason was being pessimistic, and she has stopped answering her phone because her dad keeps calling. The small town life is really beginning to get to her.
After a trip to the health department, Maddy learned that she was pregnant. The only person she had unprotected sex with was Fletcher, and she was sure it was his. She confessed her love to him, and they began dating. She broke up with Scott, which she felt bad about, but didn't feel too bad because his boyfriend Brady was back. After breaking up with Colin, he continued his obsessive behavior. She moved in with Fletcher, and windows were broken, and tires were slashed. She knew that it was Colin's fault. She began to fear for her life.
When Maddy told her mother that she was pregnant, the woman struck her with such force, she ended up in the emergency room. Fletcher called the cops, and her mother is currently in jail for breaking her probation. Maddy suffered cuts and bruises, but was overall fine. She began to gain weight, but really had no morning sickness. Ariel Reed has been taking care of her with food, and generally, Maddy gravitates toward the sweets. Ariel has been more of a sister to her than Chloe, and Maddy really looks up to her.
Tabitha is now Maddy's world. She is the complete opposite of Maddy, she is a happy baby and loves and thrives on tons of attention. There is the one little matter of Fletcher, though. It wasn't the first time she'd suspected he'd been cheating, but unknown to her, Rylee was in the process of breaking up what seemed to be a 'happy' home. Maddy just wants Tabitha to grow up different than she did, in a non-broken home.
While in California, she met a man named David Anderson. Although he is a little bit older than she is, He has been nothing but supportive of everything she wants to do. When she decided to move back to Pleasant Port, he said that he was offered a job at the bank, and would go with her, if she wanted.
It was the day before they left that he professed her feelings for her. They were at Coronado Island outside of San Diego, and he tied two rocks together and threw them into the ocean. It was from one of his favorite songs, "Run to the Sun" by NERD. He told her that it symbolized their lives together, but it would be okay if she didn't feel the same, that he just wanted her to know.

Family Background

What? |
Thoughts |
|

Andrew Baker
|
Father
|
At one point in Maddy's life, she could have said she hated her father, and really meant it. Now that she's matured after having her own child, Maddy realizes how awful she was when she was younger. The two are slowly and gradually rebuilding their relationship. |
|

Kate Baker
|
Mother
|
Kate is Maddy's mother, if you could even call her that. Maddy has an intense dislike for the woman. She could even go as far as to say that she hates her. Before she gave birth to Tabitha, Maddy had her mother's temperament, but not anymore. She now lives in New Haven, |
|

Chloe Baker
|
Sister
|
As an older sister, Maddy and Chloe would often fight, but Chloe stood up for her more than she knew. The two girls get along very well, and Maddy even went to live with her for a few months while she was trying to get her life in order. |
|

Fletcher Montgomery
|
Father of her daughter
|
Maddy's relationship with Fletcher is very strange and undefined. He is the first person Maddy ever truly loved, yet he broke her heart and vowed never to love anyone ever again. After finding out that he cheated on her while she was pregnant, Maddy fled to California with Tabitha, and now the two are learning how to become friends again. |
|

Tabitha Baker-Montgomery
|
Daughter
|
Tabitha is Maddy's entire world. Before her daughter came along, Maddy never knew what absolute true adoring love was. Since Maddy gave birth to Tabitha, she has really straightened up and stopped thinking about herself so much, and thinking more about her daughter and their future. |
|

David Anderson
|
Boyfriend
|
David is possibly the greatest thing that has ever happened to Maddy, even if she refuses to admit she loves him back. The two met in California, and David willingly transferred jobs to stay with her. She doesn't know that, and thought that David had just been transferred without his influence. He loves her and Tabitha wholeheartedly and would do anything for "his girls." |
Relationships with other Characters (Non-family)
Ren Alden - One of Fletcher's frat buddies. She knows very well what the "nickname" CG means, and thinks that he is a huge douchebag.
Scott Archer - Maddy thinks he is too sweet and naieve for his own good. She also thinks that they live on the same brainwave with their rapid-fire questions.
Lucas Jenkins - Used to be her best friend's boyfriend. She thinks he's awkward and a little weird.
Micah Lewis - The two used to party together, but now Maddy kind of freaks him out. She also lost her virginity to him when they were partying when she was really young. He doesn't remember it, and she doesn't either.
Amy Salinger - Amy is probably one of Maddy's favorite customers from when she was working at the cafe. She wanted to hook her up with Jason at one point.
Alexander Stone - Maddy's foxy history teacher! She was kicked out of his class on a regular basis for being obnoxious.
Relationships with NPC/Inactive Characters
Theo Beckett - Maddy knows Theo because he lives not too far from her, and also, because he runs the carousel, which she loves.
Alanna Campbell - Maddy dislikes Alanna greatly. In high school, she spread a lot of rumours about Maddy (some true, some not). The only good thing that came out of it was her and Ashley's friendship growing closer. Maddy will openly make fun of Alanna to her face.
Fionnegan Gallagher - Maddy actually lived with him while she and Tabitha lived with Scott. She thinks he's hilarious and entertaining, and Tabitha adored him.
Emily Gray - Emily was the closest thing that Maddy had to a mother. When she moved out of town without an explanation, it hurt her more than she let on. Maddy feels like it's her fault that Emily left.
Rosa Gray - Rosa was Maddy's psychiatrist when she was younger, after the divorce.
Devon Hennessey - Devon and Maddy are pretty much on a first name basis with each other. Usually when Maddy gets into trouble, it's Devon that busts her. Maddy does look up to her, because she's always wondered what it would be like to be a cop. Maddy also thinks that Devon is very pretty.
Brady Hernandez - Oh, his biscuits! Maddy loves the biscuits that Brady makes, and often visits his bakery.
Ashley Hodge - Ashley is Maddy's best friend, who stuck by her through the rumours. She loves living with her, and getting pierced by her!
Drake Lanspeak - Maddy is a regular customer at his department store.
Colin Lowen - Maddy hates Colin with a passion. She knows he can do better than her, and she wants him to. She wants him to leave her alone. Often referred to as her 'stalker.' His mood swings scare her.
Brian Miller - The two work together. She likes how unintentionally funny he is.
Jessy Langston - Maddy thinks that she and Colin are a match made in heaven. She thinks that they're both freaks. Maddy never really liked Jessy, and only got with her boyfriend at the time just to piss her off.
Ariel Reed - Ariel is pretty much Maddy's answer for Chloe. She's a lot less toned down and reserved, but she makes biscuits, which is fine with Maddy. Ariel is always trying to guide Maddy in the right direction, much as Chloe had tried to do before she up and left for California. Although she doesn't listen to most of the advice, she thinks it's really cool that Ariel cares enough to care.
Henry Rodriguez - Henry was often the responding officer when Maddy's mom would beat her and Chloe.
Adam Sanders - She has met Adam on many occasions, such as when she and her sister were younger and had to be taken to the hospital, or when he was the paramedic on scene when she cut herself too deeply on several occasions.
Jason Styles - Jason is her boss, and she thinks he's pretty rad. Maddy met him through the cafe, when she was trying to seek refuge from her parents fighting. He was the one who made the initial report of child abuse and he's always been protective of her. She still can't figure out why he is so protective of her, but he is more of a parental figure than her own father. She came to work at the cafe as soon as she was of legal age, and though she thought it was through her smooth talking, it was really because Jason was trying to give her a break. He is one of the few constant older figures in her life. If you ask her, he has always been there for her, and she has occasionally Freudian slipped and called him dad. To Maddy, Jason is more than a boss, he's pretty much like family.
