Appearance
Slim and athletic, with brown hair and eyes. When not in uniform or riding her bike, she generally wears blue jeans and her favorite pair of boots. She has a number of small religious symbol tattoos scattered on her body.
Personality
Kait is generally a no nonsense person both on and off the job, with a habit of long standing grudges. She outwardly hates disrespect in any form, although can sometimes be hypocritical in that she doesn't always show others due respect. This especially comes out in confrontations she has had with superiors as she regards her 'Original Authority' to come before the chain of command.
Internally Kait is far more fragile and genuinely tries to see the best in everyone and everything; however the experiences she's encountered whilst in the police force have continued to beat these better hopes and dreams down. In addition, the recent break-up of her one and only relationship after six years has also worked to hardened her and she has unknowingly developed a fear of commitment and rejection.
She is very outgoing privately with friends however, although not to the true extent of her vulnerability and enjoys a number of team sports and can also be found having some friendly games of pool with her friends and co-workers after her shift ends.
The incidents surrounding the whole Pleasant Port serial killer incident have disturbed her somewhat and she is now prone to recurring nightmares and some operational anxiety. She has little understanding about how much she has suffered and what problems she has developed.
One of the most important things in her life is her 'showcat' Mason, who she bi-annually takes to various high profile cat shows and also offers Mason's services as a stud cat. She maintains that Mason is only a hobby and has no intentions to become a crazy old cat lady.
Personal History
Kaitlin is a born and bred Boston girl, learning a lot on the streets as a child though witnessing the extent of crime that existed throughout and the pain that it caused. She didn't actively show an interest in solving the problem however, until her brother was found dead from a drug overdose.
She enrolled into the police academy straight out of high school, proving to be an exemplary officer, despite her sometimes unflinching adherence to the law as written. During her time as a member of the Boston police she worked in both the Organised Crime and Drugs units, in part to understand the world her brother had gotten himself involved with.
After a successful bust, which however amounted to a great deal of collateral damage, including severe injury to her then fiancé and partner, Kaitlin found herself being transferred out of the area, both for her safety and for the department's sanity. To add insult to injury, she returned home to find that her fiancé had intended to break up with her that evening, had the day's events not occurred.
She eventually chose Pleasant Port as the location for her transfer, sharing fond childhood memories with her family and her cousins, and she was quick to establish herself and reconnect with her extended family. Six months on from her arrival she finds herself living with one of her cousins and developing a close group of friends, both personally and professionally.
Kait went on to be involved in the investigations into the Pleasant Port serial killer, whom she had unknowing had contact with on a number of occasions. Eventually he discovered she was a police officer and went on the run. With the help and resources of many of her co-workers and associates she was able to join the Los Angeles Organised Crime Devision in an operation to capture the Pleasant Port serial killer. She eventually shot him in a heated confrontation on a cliff edge, but his body was never found and he was presumed dead. Relationships with other Characters
Andrew Baker - Kaitlin occasionally works with Andrew and respects his forensic opinion, especially regarding the help he provided during a number of cases. She has a soft spot for him and has a habit of driving him home whenever she finds him sleeping at the Funeral Home. He's work during the deaths caused by the Pleasant Port serial killer helped her to join a operation which successfully dealt with the killer, and this is something for which Kaitlin is eternally greatful.
Scott Archer - Kaitlin met Scott through her cousin Travis, the two mesh well and have joked about the stigma that comes with living the 'bisexual life'. She noticed very early on that Scott has a crush on Travis and whilst she's told him that she's keeping it a secret, she continues to tease him about it. She regularily sees him when she goes to Fresh Mex and they also spend time together with the climbing club. Recently they've been spending more time together with Scott helping her to train to become more competitive in soccer.
Thaddeus Cutter - Kaitlin has only dealt with the detective on a few occasions, completely unaware that he had been working at the department longer than she had and made the mistake on their first meeting of assuming he was new to the town. She knows that Thaddeus has a dark side that he hides, but as long as he doesn't let it out she's fine with him. Regardless she respects his opinions and experience, both of which helped her in the Pleasant Port Predator case.
Shaun Hamilton - Kaitlin spent some time with Shaun over Halloween over a year ago, where he was trying to convince Travis to dance. She really liked him and she would like it if he were around more often, to keep her entertained and to help get her cousin out of his shell.
Gil Johnson - Kaitlin once shared a table and a meal at the Wheelhouse Diner with him and not long after sitting down with him she realised there was something dangerous about him, something that scared her. She eventually learnt that he was the Pleasant Port serial killer, whilst he learnt she was a police officer, she eventually pursued him to Los Angeles as part of an operation to catch him. She shot him off a cliff at the climax of the operation but never saw his body and believes he may not be gone forever.
Ryan King - Kaitlin relies of Ryan for information when out working and occasionally talks with him during her late shifts at the station, his voice being one of the few things to keep her company. She has never seen him outside of work hours.
Adina Lewis - Kaitlin has come in contact with the Adina whilst undertaking the investigation into her mother's death and at one point observing Adina having a late night conversation with someone Kaitlin now suspectes to be Gil Johnson, her mother's killer.
Jeffrey Lewis - Kaitlin had been working to solve the murder of Jeffrey's wife Naomi and had spent a fair amount of time with the man, at the time she worried though that her partner Henry would damage any chance of a continuing relationship between Jeffrey and the police department, this however never completely occured.
Luke Questal - Kaitlin met Luke whilst on one of her days off, the pair spent nearly an hour on the beach talking, in which time Kaitlin gave him her phone number. Since then they run into each other a few times for a drink and a game of pool, she likes him regardless of the rumours she's heard.
Henry Rodriguez - Kaitlin met Henry upon joining the Pleasant Port police force, she respects him for his attitude towards the job, although his attitude regarding a witness soured this somewhat. They were working closely together over the serial killings he accepted her as part of his task force due to her experience back in Boston. His opposition towards her theories and methods during the investigations and his treatment towards victims and witnesses put them at odds. The few times they've spent together outside of work have allowed the two to discover the similar history of policing they share, but Kaitlin understands that how they've grown from their experiences further set them apart. When she returned to Pleasant Port at the conclusion of the Pleasant Port Predator case she learnt that Henry is no longer her partner.
William Talon - Kaitlin worked with Talon during the investigations into the Pleasant Port serial killer and his work lead to a number of breakthroughs once the killers identity was revealed. She is thankful for his help, which allowed her to join the operation to capture the serial killer. Kait has had few dealings with Talon overall and hopes that she won't have to call on his services again, however she likes him and if need be would work with him again.
