History
Jason has lived in Pleasant Port his whole life and has been the owner of Cafe Atlantique for 15 years now. He is an only child who gets along very well with his parents. His parents have moved to Florida as people of their age have started doing. He tries to go visit them every year and likes to feel like he’s taking care of them. In high school he was popular and into sports. He loved soccer and was good enough to play in college. He was being scouted by all sorts of schools but at the end of his senior year, he hurt his knee badly. He decided against going to school and by some stroke of luck, with really good timing, came into ownership of the Cafe Atlantique. His parents helped him with the money which is why he has helped them out as they’ve gotten older.
He loves the restaurant and is always trying to think of fun new things to do with it. Every year he likes to make a big change. He has made many of his friends through running the Café and met Emily there. Many people do not realize how much money the café brings in for Jason. He wouldn’t classify himself as rich, but he definitely does not have a problem making a living. It shows up in things like his choice of car to drive.
Personality
Jason is a steady personality. It takes a lot to rock him. He reads people well and this helps him in making friends easily. He doesn’t get close to people very quickly or very often. He has a lot of surface friendships but it takes more than a little bit of trying to develop a real connected friendship with Jason. Along with this, he doesn’t fall into love quickly either. He is very deliberate. Everything about him is typically though out and rational. He lets emotions come through but does not allow them to take over.
Once he develops friendships, it takes a lot for him to give up on them. He truly believes in peoples abilities and is always very supportive of friends, no matter what they're going through in their lives. He is keen to remember who has helped him out in his life and is very thankful to them. He feels indebted to people and will do as much he can to pay them back for how they have helped him. This is why he has taken such great care of his parents. It also leads him to be a generally caring boss at Cafe Atlantique because he appreciates the work put in by his employees.
He tries to be very flexible for the needs of those he cares about. He is not one who will let himself be walked on but he is relatively good at reading people and when he sees a genuine need, he tries to use his resources to help them out. Over the years that he has owned the Cafe, he has done relatively well for himself. He tries to play down how much money he has and isn't too flashy with it. His biggest purchase has been his car.
Jason loves children. He doesn't feel any rush to settle down, get married and have a kid but he knows in the back of his head that he really wants to have children. It is not something he talks about but there is even a visible softening when he is interacting with children.

Relationship with other characters

When Gus moved to Pleasant Port in the end of middle school, Jason and he quickly became best friends. They shared a common interest in many sports and were on a lot of teams together. When Gus left for college and Jason stayed in PP, their relationship did change but it did not end. They kept in relatively constant contact in the years that Gus lived in LA and quickly fell back into the routine of being best friends when Gus moved back to town. Gus’s parents even enlisted Jason to go out to LA to help Gus get himself together and move back and get sober. |

Maddy is someone Jason inexplicably took a shine to immediately. He has come to know her through the cafe but he has developed a bit of a fatherly protection over her. He was the one who made the initial report of child abuse and he's always been protective of her. He felt like it was important to get her away from her mother and still feels some sense of guilt for the fact that in some ways, it's his fault she ended up living with her father. When she was old enough, he gave her work in the cafe, trying to give her as much time as possible away from home. He is one of the few constant older figures in Maddy's life and he tries to continue to be there for her, often the one who bails her out of jail when she gets in trouble. He knows that she has headed down some wrong paths but tries to keep an eye and make sure she doesn't go too far with her wild ways. He might not say it to many people but there are times he thinks of Maddy as like his own daughter. |

Emily and Jason were together for about 5 years. They were even engaged when they mutually decided it wasn't working anymore 3 years ago. They remained good friends until she moved out of town. They haven't been in touch much since she left but once they both get over things then he's hoping they'll talk again. |
 |
Robert and Jason met when Emily and Jason started dating. It didn't take long for them to start getting along as the bonded over athletics. Even thought Emily and Jason are no longer together, they still get along well and Jason likes to consider Robert his friend. |
 |
Jason and Gavin have developed a steady friendship over the years. Neither man is particularly talkative about feelings but have found themselves confiding in each other throughout the years. Gavin is the most consistent friend that Jason has had in his life and he truly values that. Jason considers Gavin a true friend and as a bonus, absolutely adores his daughter. Gavin has moved out of town but they're trying to keep in touch. |
|
As one of Gavin's best friends, Jason has come to know Julia over the years. They get along well and maintain a pleasant relationship. He can get protective of Gavin but has never had a bad relationship with Julia as a result. |
 |
Jason met Amy initially as a customer of his through the Café. When she first started coming in, they didn’t interact a whole lot because she wasn’t too talkative but once she became a regular there, the two developed somewhat of a friendship. Jason finds her absolutely adorable. |
 |
Jason met Cadissy one night when he was out taking pictures on the beach. He helped her out after the plunged full on into the freezing water without thinking much about the consequences. He was there to offer her a place to get warmed up and they very quickly developed a connection. He was pretty quickly attracted to her and they rather accidentally fell into making out that night. Jason and Cadissy had a thing that was undefined and fun for a while but as relationships do sometimes...the one between them fizzled. |
