- Rough around the edges, rather difficult to deal with - Prone to attempting to escape from the nursing home
- Has little problem with sharing his opinion on anything and everything; while many consider this to be an age related personality trait, it’s one that he’s had his whole life
- Can be very critical of others, and almost takes pleasure out of pointing out their flaws
- Despite this is usually rather positive about life, although this outlook is slightly tainted. Jim hides nothing and treats each day as it could be his last because he has hit the point where he genuinely hopes that it is - Likes being the center of attention
Personal History
- Born and raised in Pleasant Port - Got out of serving in the war because his family owned a farm. He hated working on it, but figured it was better than the alternative
- Met Courtney O’Reilly soon after the end of the war. The two dated for awhile, and married in 1950
- Daughter, Karen, was born in 1952 - Karen met Alan Simpson and married him rather young. They moved to New Haven and had 3 children, Darren (born 1973), Ronda (born 1975), and Aaron (1987)
- Courtney died in 1990
- Courtney’s death sent Jim into a bit of a turmoil. He didn’t take care of himself, and avoided contact with the outside world, especially his daughter. As a result, in less than a year Karen had him put into Pleasant Port Nursing Home
- Alan committed suicide in 1996
- Karen and her youngest son moved back to Pleasant Port in 1998 - 2006 Aaron moved back to New Haven

| Courtney Forsyth |
Jim met Courtney following the end of the second world war, and married her in 1950. He rather loved his wife, and was crushed when she died. For some time afterwards, he refused to take care of himself, leading to his daughter having him sent to the nursing home. Since then he has developed a more positive outlook on life, simply because he figures that it won’t be too much longer until he is with his wife once more |

Jim and Karen have always had a rather complicated relationship, filled with ups and downs. They got along best when she was youngest, but as she grew up they fell apart for one simple reason; they were too similar to stand each other. For awhile after Courtney’s death, Jim avoided contact with his daughter, and when he was first moved to Pleasant Port Nursing Home he despised her, considering Karen to be his jailor. Since the death of her husband though, and even more so since she moved back to Pleasant Port, they have begun to reform a strong relationship |

Alan was Jim’s son-in-law. He never really liked the man, considering him to be too much of a pansy for his daughter. In Jim’s mind, Alan’s suicide only confirmed as much |

Jim’s granddaughter. He absolutely adores her, and considers her to be a doll. In many ways, Ronda is still just a little girl to Jim, and he has a hard time believing that she is married with two children of her own |
