Appearance
Henry is 5'10. He has dark hair and complexion and brown eyes. He tries to keep his hair short, but long enough that he can cover the top of his ears with it. He makes sure to shave every morning as much as he hates doing so. His body is well built but with no huge muscles. He thinks he's fit enough.
When working, Henry will wear the suit, usually without a tie and with training shoes, unless someone from a higher hierarchy complains about it. He likes to dress in jeans and a shirt. He's a bit too careless about his looks and believes he should buy new clothes more often. He just never gets around to actually do it.
Henry has a few scars from a time an old house exploded with him inside. The top of his left ear look as if it was chewed by an angry bear. There's also a three inch scar that goes from the left side of his forehead towards his left ear, and another on his chin from when he hit the ground. From that accident he also got a few burn marks on his legs and arms, but most of it healed quite well. Still, if one is looking closely, it's possible to notice a few small marks on his face and specially on his hands.
Personality
Henry is a honest man and a very loyal friend. Yet, he's very strong headed and short-tempered. He can't stand people lying though he can be quite a cynic sometimes. He will always do what he believes is the right thing to do, and will try to convince people of what he believes.
He can be a flirty type with women, but he admits to himself he has no idea of how to deal with them. Never did. Never knows the moment to be kind and the moment to let them be. Never knows if he should open the car door to them or if that might make them think he's an old-fashioned jerk. He's the type of man who rarely knows how to be friends with a woman. That makes him feel somewhat socially incompetent.
Henry can be a little intolerant and it's pretty easy to see him lose his temper. Little things annoy him. When things don't work out as he expects them to he gets really upset, but he rarely gives up.
Most of the time, though, he is very friendly. Or at least he seems to be. It takes some time before he considers anyone a friend, which could explain why most the time he just relates with people he knows from work.
His work is his life and has been like this since he started as a patrol officer. Henry takes his job very seriously and can be something of a workaholic. And he's not very keen on thinking twice before acting. Because of his short temper and this habit of acting on instinct some might see him as irresponsible and inconsequent. Others might look at him as a pretty brave man. Either way, there's no doubt Henry is a bit too impulsive.
Personal History
Henry was born and raised in Chicago. His mother was a bit aloof and his father was always too busy with work, so he and his sister Rita had to pretty much learn how to take care of themselves. It was mostly his sister that used to get them into trouble though.
Henry started playing baseball in high school, and wanted to be a professional player. His father wanted him to go to law school for college. And Henry did, but never finished it. During college, playing baseball was always a lot more fun than studying law. But one couldn't play with the sort of grades Henry was getting.
In 1989 he joined the Chicago Police Department, much to his father disappointment. Henry liked the job and his father would soon get used to it. Henry became a police detective in 1995. His partner was a man called Oscar Kieser, and they would become good friends. It was around that time that, while working on a case, he met Patricia Wilson, with whom he would marry four years later. She was a defense attorney. In the beginning Henry was sure that relationship couldn't last. But he asked her to marry him anyway. And she accepted.
For a while things were fine and passion seemed to work well to keep their relationship standing. A few years later, though, Henry and his partner got in trouble with Internal Affairs when Oscar killed a man they were chasing in the outskirts of Chicago. The man had just been arrested, but had managed to escape and steal Henry's gun. Oscar shot him. The I.A. deal was enough for Henry to develop an ugly animosity against one of the I.A. detectives, Julian Stevenson.
There's not much to be said about the way his marriage went. One couldn't quite state it was a disaster, but it wasn't anything near satisfying. Passion faded and there didn't seem to be too much love left. They were both too strong headed and argued a lot. The I.A. investigation didn't make it any better and only put Henry in a disposition to disagree with whatever it was that his wife had to say or complain about.
They both seemed to always be too busy with work. In a few years they were strangers. In 2005 Henry started seeing another woman, a friend from law school. Patricia found out and broke a few things around their house.
They got divorced in the beginning of 2006 and Henry felt a little lost.
Then things got a bit ugly.
Henry got in trouble with I.A. again during a murder investigation. He killed the son of a congressman. It was self-defense and indeed the man was guilty. But things were just too complicated when there was politics involved and I.A. detective Stevenson was a little too eager to see Henry in big trouble. The media was all over it. It just pissed Henry off. He was suspended for six months. Oscar told Henry about Pleasant Port. He knew the chief of police there, and he could get Henry a job in no time.
Because Henry didn't want to get back to Chicago any time soon, his sister visited with her family for christmas and new year's eve. Rita loved the town and considered moving in as well. She had been wanting a quieter life for some time. Her husband took his time to consider his job options and they moved into Pleasant Port in April 2007. Henry was glad to have his sister next to him again.

Family Background
Nelson Rodriguez (67). Father. Nelson is a lawyer in Chicago. Their relationship is distant but they respect each other in their own way. Nelson's crankiness annoys Henry. Nelson is actually very proud of his son.
Lucia Rodriguez (62). Mother. Lucia is supposed to be living somewhere in Mexico with a man named Luiz. Henry has no idea if that is true, and he already gave up on finding out. She left Chicago when he was 26, asking her children not to look for her. A year after that she sent her ex-husband a picture of her and a tall mexican man with white hair, in front of aztecs ruins. In the back, it read: "This is Luiz. We're fine."
Rita Auricht (34). Sister. Rita lives in Pleasant Port with her husband Charles Auricht and her 6 year-old son. Henry and Rita always got along very well and love each other dearly. Henry gets a bit upset when she tries to act like a mother and wished she didn't worry so much.
Charles Auricht (40). Brother-in-law. Henry and Charles went to school together but weren't really friends. Henry thinks Charles is a bore. They can't stand each other since a silly discussion during Nelson's 60th birthday turned into a nasty physical fight that was broke apart by Rita.
Arthur Auricht (6). Nephew. Rita's son. He adores Henry.
Patricia Wilson (34). Ex-wife. Patricia is a defense attorney in Chicago. They got married in 1999 and divorced in the beginning of 2006. They had no children. After their divorce she started going out with a friend from work and Henry didn't want to know about her life anymore. Henry still resents the way things turned out, as much as Oscar insists in pointing out it was pretty much Henry's own fault.
