Gavin has brown curly hair which is always kinda messy. He sometimes tries to get it in order but those curls never want what he wants so he just keeps it relatively short and leaves it at is. Often seen with a three day stubble and a smile on his face that also lights up his blue eyes.

He usually wears casual clothing, jeans with a t-shirt or button shirt. When it's a little colder a sweater, often the shirt peeping out under it which adds to the messy look his hair gives him already. When it's needed for his work, you can sometimes see him wearing a suit but usually he hates being all buttoned up and wearing a tie.

History

Gavin grew up in Pleasant Port and his parents and sister still live there also. He and Julia were high school sweethearts and went to college together and even got married while they were still at university. Together they came back to Pleasant Port and both found a job here, first living in a small apartment and then they bought the house they're still living in now.

After a couple of years into their marriage Gavin wanted a baby but Julia wanted to focus on her career. After a lot of fighting between them they decided to split up and Gavin moved out and even moved away from Pleasant Port for a while. He took a sabbatical at work and went to Europe for a year. When he came back to Pleasant Port he got himself an apartment, avoiding seeing Julia as much as he could because he was still madly in love with her and just couldn't forget about her.

Of course he heard from others about her and also that she had dated several other men but nothing serious. One day they walked into each other and started talking again. As it turned out Julia still missed Gavin also which was the reason why she had never really been able to get into a serious relationship with another man. They decided to give their marriage another try and he moved back in with her and they even got a baby, Lily.

Personality

Gavin is a pretty quiet and nice man, always ready to help somebody out with anything and he always has an open ear for any problems anyone might have. He's especially concerned with his students and many of them come to him when they have problems. He's also that kind of teacher that goes out for coffee with his students and is very much involved in after school activities, especially the drama club.

If somebody steps on his toes though, Gavin can get pretty aggressive. This doesn't happen a lot but one should not insult him or his family. Another thing he can't stand is when people tell lies or mistreat other people for no reason.

His good relationship to his students has caused fights between him and Julia from time to time. Her begin a jealous person, it was hard for her to except that there were female students Gavin was in contact with outside of teaching them. Of course he was aware that there were some that had a crush on him but he always handled those things with dignity and he would never cheat with his wife, let alone start something with a student of his.

Gavin is quite the charmer and he has always had girls and women chasing after him because of his natural sweet manner but he never cared about anybody else than Julia and still now often women address him when he's alone somewhere and he had a lot of opportunities while he and Julia were split up but he never did anything, his mind always with her. It is not like he flirts with women, it's just something about him that women find attractive.

Relationship with other characters

	Julia is Gavin's wife and they have been married snce 1986. Most of the time happily but they've had their fair share of problems and even split up for some time. Still now and then problems between them occur but generally they're a very happily married couple.
	Oliver and Gavin have known each other for a long time as they both grew up in Pleasant Port and are about the same age. Now they're daughters are best friends.
	Robert lives across the street from Gavin and Julia and they got along right from the start and Gavin and him quickly became friends. They sometimes go fishing together or do other guy stuffy and occasionally Robert watches Lily for them.
	Gavin's younger brother. They get along very good and he has always admired Tim's free spirit and his ability to just take off and explore other parts of the world.
	Gavin knows Jennifer from school. Her kids were in his class once and they got to know each other. They see each other around town now and then and they talk from time to time. Gavin thinks she's really nice woman, especially because she's open and easy to talk to.
	He knows Norah from back when she was in his class when she was still in high school. Norah sometimes babysits Lily since their moms are friends. He thinks Norah is a really sweet girl and when they meet in town they talk from time to time. Gavin is totally unaware of the crush the girl has on him.
	He doesn't really know Gabriel very well because it was always his wife who showed up for anything parents were involved at school. Gavin always had the impression that Gabriel doesn't really care. He sees him around town now and then but they never talk and Gabriel most likely hasn't even an idea who Gavin is.
	Gavin's brother-in-law, they never got along because they are so different and Nathan always considered Gavin as someone not good enough for his sister, still after all these years he lets Gavin know that fact.
