• Born the middle child of 5. While she loved being in such a large family, she found that at home she was never alone and that it was easy to get lost in the confusion.  While she was always loved as a child she still often felt neglected and overlooked.
• In school she met John, who at the time was an awkward young boy who adored her.  Celeste quickly took to the boy’s sense of humour and soon fell in love, as much with John as with his family.  With the Zimmerman’s Celeste felt as if she was significant, she mattered for the first time in her life.
• In her senior year of high school, as they were making plans for college, John proposed.  In what her parents considered to be a rash moment Celeste said yes.  The two were married that year, shortly after her eighteenth birthday.
• First few years of marriage were idyllic.
• Celeste began school for nursing and John studied business.
• As John began to struggle in school things became harder for them.  John became more and more depressed and Celeste began to see his humour as his immaturity.
• The couple’s inability to conceive made things worse.  The harder things between them became the more they believed a child would fix things.
• When they failed to conceive they went to a fertility specialist, where it was discovered that John was infertile.  The two attempted pregnancy through artificial means, but it was too expensive to try for long.
• Celeste began to turn away from her husband.  While she never had an affair she did begin to seek out the company of other men.
• Shortly before their 10th anniversary Celeste left John and filed for divorce.
• While nothing had happened yet, Celeste had become close with Daniel Feddeck.  Shortly after moving into an apartment of her own, Celeste and Daniel began dating.
• Married Daniel on April 12, 1994.

	Daniel is Celeste’ second husband. With Daniel she has the relationship that she had idealized when she was with Johnny.
	Johnny is Celeste’s ex-husband. The two were high school sweethearts, and even though Celeste left because she was no longer able to be with him, she still has a soft spot for the man in her heart. After his mother's death, Celeste has done everything she can to help him get through it, but because he's withdrawn from her she hasn't been successful. She worries that he's going to do something stupid like attempting suicide again, but she doesn't know how to prevent it.
	Agnes was Celeste’s mother-in-law. The two were always close and, because Agnes understands the difficulty of having to deal with Johnny, remained close after Celeste’s marriage failed. Agnes was like another mother to Celeste, causing Celeste to be rather upset when she died.
