The house was built in 1847 by George Covington's great grandfather Charles Covington. It was one of the first victorian homes to be built in Pleasant Port. It is a stunning example of the architecture of the time and is on the historical registry. The subsequent generations of Covington's have maintained it in it's original state, with the exception of the gas lighting being replaced with electricity in 1935.
